3 Tips for Feeding the Good Gut Bacteria

The video above is a sample from the Digestion Sessions. The research coming out on gut bacteria, a.k.a. probiotics is fascinating. She shares with us 3 ways to support a healthy ecosystem in the digestive tract.

  • Eating fermented foods. I just went to my local health food store and came back with fermented beets, pickles and sauerkraut. It is very important that these products contain the living organisms. Typical pasteurized store brands do not, and are worthless for gut health. Even the word “organic” on the label does not guarantee living organisms. Read labels carefully and ask questions.
  • Taking Probiotics. One size does not fit all. There are many different strains of probiotics, and finding the correct amount is important too. It may take experimentation with different brands to find just the right one for an individual.
  • Prebiotics feed the healthy gut bacteria, Let’s face it, they gotta eat too.
