Many people miss the creaminess of smoothies if they are trying to avoid dairy products.

However it is very simple to make a very creamy smoothie, without using dairy products. Simply use creamy ingredients like cashew milk, avocados, coconut milk or chia seeds. There are a few other options for boosting creaminess in a smoothie below.

Creamy Smoothie Dairy-Free

Creamy smoothie not only taste great, but they are more filling than a less creamier version of a smoothie. They also provide long sustained energy. They make a good pre-workout drink.

Super Creamy Smoothie Recipe

  • Cashew milk
  • Half an avocado
  • 2 Tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes, unsweetened
  • 1/2 an organic apple
  • 1/2 cup organic blueberries
  • Local leafy greens

Ingredients for a Creamy Smoothie  Start by soaking the chia seeds in the blender with a little bit of the cashew milk. Let then soak for about 10 minutes, so they swell up and soften. This makes them easier to blend and digest. Then add the rest of the ingredients and finally top off with more cashew milk.

Avocados are a great choice for making a smoothie creamy.

They are loaded with good nutrition, including healthy fats. One of the most famous health and smoothie gurus is named David “Avocado” Wolfe.

Chia seeds are a superfood in their own right. They also happen to make a smoothie creamier.

Almond milk is another options that I did not use in this smoothie recipe. In fact any kind of nut milk, nut butter, or the nuts themselves could work in a creamy smoothie recipe. The softer nuts work better, if you are using plain nuts. Nut butters blend easier, like almond butter or cashew butter. Sesame seeds will also work.

I have been avoiding gluten now for a few decades, since I figured out that it makes me depressed and tired. If you do a little research on the internet, you may discover that dairy and milk products have just as many adverse health issues associated with their consumption. Now I am avoiding gluten and dairy and feel better than ever.

    I haven’t tried an avocado in my smoothie, but I will. I think I use the kitchen sink in mine. I begin with 1/4 c of aloe vera gel, then 1/4 c strawberries, 1/8 c blueberries, 1 c unsweetened coconut milk or hemp milk, stevia to taste, Dr. Schulze’s Superfood Plus (2 Tbs), 2 Tbs of Great Lakes gelatin ( looking at natural joint repair) and 2 ice cubes and blend. Great start to the morning, only the avocado could improve that! Thank you.

      That sounds great Maureen, I am going to have to try the aloe vera gel. I have some aloe plants growing, and I know aloe is super good for you.
