One of my pet peeves about health food stores is the trail mix they sell.
Most of it is just repackaged junk food. Many of the trail mixes contain added sugar, candy, gluten and other sketchy ingredients.
Even some of the better looking ones contain way to much dried fruit. This equates to a lot of sugar. Even though it’s natural, it is still lots of sugar, which is not good for someone trying to be healthy.

Super Quick and Healthy Snack Ingredient List
- Raw mixed nuts. Does not contain peanuts which can be problematic for some people.
- Mulberries, not sprayed with any pesticides.
- 1/2 Organic apple, sliced
Here is a tip: If you are not going to eat the apple right away, rub a bit of fresh lemon juice over the apple slices to keep them from turning brown.
If you want a more portable trail mix that you can store for a longer period of time, you could make your own trail mix. This will give you better quality control over the ingredients. Get a variety of your favorite nuts and some dried fruit like raisins. Just go easy on the dried fruit to keep the sugar content low.
