Here are some healthy alkaline snack ideas for better digestion. Your kids will love these and so will you.
The first tip involves a much better way to make trail mix. Just soak the raw nuts and seeds overnight while you are sleeping. This helps to reduce enzyme inhibitors and makes the nuts easier to digest.
I get frustrated with most of the trial mix options offered in stores, even so called “Health Food” stores. Even the best trail mixes contain far too much fruit. Lots of fruit equates to lots of sugar, not at all helpful for someone trying to lose weight, have a good immune system or be vibrantly healthy. Even worse are the trail mixes that contain candy in the mix and nuts that are processed with peanut or other oils.
Healthy Snack Ideas
- Soak raw nuts and seeds overnight purified water and sea salt. Dry in a dehydrator, in the oven on low, or spread them out on paper towels and let the fan blow over them. Add a small amount of dried fruit, such as raisins or dried berries.
- Better popcorn. Make popcorn the old fashioned way on the stovetop. Coconut oil is the only oil I use for high heat cooking, as it does not oxidize while cooking. Grass Fed butter is also acceptable, if not sensitive to dairy. Add sea salt, melted butter or coconut oil. You can also sprinkle with herbs and spices, such as red pepper, turmeric, or lemon pepper.
