<p>Dr Young also talks about the emotions and health. Stress can clearly push the body in an acidic direction.<br />
We don&#8217;t have a heart attack, Dr Young says, but literally a thought attack. I have read elsewhere that heart attacks are most common on Monday mornings, when people dread going back to a job they hate or is very stressful.</p>

<p>Eating the alkaline way means eating foods which promote alkalinity in the body. Most alkaline forming foods are vegetables and fruits. Leafy greens are especially alkaline forming in the body.</p>

<h2>Cut Back on Salt?</h2>
<p>While everyone else is saying cut down on salt, Dr. Young says, we need salt. So what is the real truth here? I think the topic needs a little more exploration.</p>
<h2>My Personal Salt Story</h2>
<p>Here is a true case that happened to me: Several years ago I went to see a holistic MD. This is a guy very knowledgeable about vitamins, healthy  diet, chelation, and more.  Studying ways to actually be healthier and have more energy was his thing. But he wa also an MD, so he was able to do lab tests for urine, blood, saliva and more.</p>

<h2>Doctor&#8217;s Orders</h2>
<p>Here is what he told me after looking at my tests: Eat more salt, specifically, sea salt, not ordinary table salt. The thing is I was already eating pretty healthy. I did not consume the large amounts of junk food consumed by the average American. No salty chips, pretzels, soups or anything else with added or hidden salt. My blood pressure was already low, so additional salt would not put me in the danger zone for high blood pressure.</p>
<h4>Advantage of Sea Salt</h4>
<p>The advantage of sea salt is that it contains trace minerals which are typically absent from common table salt. Sea salt can actually help to alkalize the body, because of the minerals.</p>
<p>Bottom line here: Check with your own doctor first and take into consideration your lifestyle and current medical condition. Adding salt to an already salty diet might not be too good. So take Dr. Young&#8217;s advice with a grain of salt, or not.</p>

<h4>Holiday Party Defense</h4>

<p>Tip: You can absorb more nutrition out of green leaves, if fat is present. A good reason to use a quality salad dressing, like something containing olive oil. Also nuts and seeds make a good addition to a salad.</p>
<p>The seed and the leaf represent alkaline balance in nature. Seeds are acidic, while the leafy greens are alkaline. Imagine foraging in nature, eating a few greens and a few seeds.</p>
<p>What do you do if you eat too many acid foods? Eat some leafy greens or better yet green juice or smoothie.<br />

<p>David also gets into which parts of the body are acid and which alkaline. The liver, gallbladder, blood, urine, saliva and other parts of the body have different ranges of pH. The body should balance to neutral.</p>
<p>Most people end up in the acid range. Burger, fries and soda. Fries =  root, Beef = muscle, Bun =  seeds. Total acidic combo.</p>
