Another great thing about sprouts,

is they contain naturally occurring enzymes.

Perhaps best of all they are inexpensive. You can pick up a package of sprouts at most grocery stores for a buck or two. If that’s not good enough, you can grow them yourself. Growing sprouts yourself is they best way to ensure that they are fresh and have peak nutritional value. Just do a search for “sprout” on this site and you can find several videos on how to grow sprouts.

Other Types of Sprouts

Be sure to check out other types of sprouts besides the common, alfalfa and mung bean sprouts.

Broccoli sprouts

Chickpea sprouts

Green lentil sprouts

Sesame sprouts

Sunflower sprouts

Buckwheat sprouts

And more!!

Sprouts are a great alkaline food and are a good part of an alkaline diet plan.

I would love to hear about sprouting techniques and recipes. Please use the comment box below to share with all, thanks!

The only adjustment I would make is to use a more dark leafy green, instead of iceberg lettuce.

One of the biggest challenges for people following an Alkaline Diet is what to eat for snacks.

Sometimes you just get the munchies in between meals and you need a healthy snack.

Here are a couple other healthy snack ideas:

Have a bag of cut up vegetables in the frig at all times, so it is handy to grab.

Almonds are a great portable snack.

A bowl of fruit, but don’t go overboard, as we have written elsewhere about the sugar content of fruit. Too much of a good thing, just might be too much.

A glass of powdered greens, with some rice protein.

Any kind of dehydrated vegetables.

We would love to hear your healthy snack ideas. Please post in the comment box below.

A good way to detox the body is to drink an organic, cleansing herbal tea. It acts as a very gentle colon cleanse and helps to remove toxins and undigested debris.

Also learn why Dr. Young likes to address the physical body, before the emotions. When you start to feel better, then you start to think better, then you begin to do better.

He also shares some radical new thinking on the digestive process. – From the mouth, all the way down through the alimentary canal, every action is to alkalize the food. -

I wanted to talk to you about the difference between an alkalizing breakfast and an acidifying breakfast.

Now, let’s just take a look at the typical American acidifying breakfast which typically includes something like coffee, or people even drink soda. Follow that with something containing refined white flour and sugar like doughnuts, sweetened cereal, bagels, muffins, and all that kind of stuff.

Alkaline vs Acidic Breakfast

Even whole grains, are still on the acid side of the chart

It may be less acidifying, sure. Whole grains are better than the refined white variety which is very acidifying, but it is still all on the acid side of the chart. And a lot of times people consume refined oils along with these products and they end up with something that is really not very healthy at all.

Now in contrast, an alkalizing breakfast would be something like green or white tea. You can still get caffeine. Have a couple extra cups of green and white tea. It is better than a cup of coffee. Even better yet, blend your green tea with some herbal tea.

Don’t Take Away My Coffee!

Now, some people, we get this question a lot, “Can I have a cup of coffee? I can’t live without a cup of coffee. Can I still maintain alkaline balance and have a cup of coffee?”

I like to have a cup of coffee myself every now and then. So what do I do? I put a little bit, about a quarter to a half a scoop, of Sea Calcium and I take a Magnesium tablet and I break it open, and I sprinkle about a third into that coffee and stir it up. It actually turns a little bit lighter color of brown, and I have actually gotten buffering minerals in my coffee now, so it is not quite as harmful from a PH balancing acidic point of view when I consume it.

Here is another tip. Brew up some herbal tea, like Dr Miller’s Iaso Tea – known to be alkalizing, and blend it 50-50 with your coffee. You still have a hot beverage that tastes good. It gives you the caffeine that many of us depend on for energy, without quite so much acid effect.

You could even do both, tea blend and mineral addition. This will decrease the acidic effect significantly.

A Better Alkaline Breakfast

I am going to have right along with it a vegetable blender smoothie, which is very alkalizing. I will probably have maybe some whey protein in there so I am getting some protein, some fish oil so I am getting protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, all the essentials of a good healthy diet that is very alkalizing.

Meat is OK – Organic is Best

I might even have a little bit of meat. If I do, it is a small piece, and it is clean. It is maybe organic or at least free range and doesn’t have hormones or antibiotics and all that kind of stuff in it. Or a little bit of healthy fish is also OK. And as an alternative, maybe a salad instead of the vegetable blender smoothie. All these and you will end up with a much better alkalizing breakfast solution.
