<p>One of the biggest challenges for people following an Alkaline Diet is what to eat for snacks.</p>
<p>Sometimes you just get the munchies in between meals and you need a healthy snack.</p>
<p>Here are a couple other healthy snack ideas:</p>

<li>Have a bag of cut up vegetables in the frig at all times, so it is handy to grab.</li>
<li>Almonds are a great portable snack.</li>
<li>A bowl of fruit, but don&#8217;t go overboard, as we have written elsewhere about the sugar content of fruit. Too much of a good thing, just might be too much.</li>
<li>A glass of powdered greens, with some rice protein.</li>
<li>Any kind of dehydrated vegetables.</li>

<p>Get your blender ready and add the following:</p>

<li>Sprouts, alfalfa is good, or use clover, mung bean or bit of radish for some zest</li>
<li>Greens, dark leafy greens are best. The more the merrier</li>
<li>Some fruit to add flavor and sweetness.</li>
<li>Enough water to blend it up to a good consistency.</li>
</ul>
<p>In a perfect world, you would use lots of greens and just a little fruit for the highest density of nutrients, phytochemicals and antioxidants.  And the fewest calories. Too much fruit in a liquefied state can cause blood sugar problems for some people.</p>
<p>BUT&#8230; it has to taste good or no one will drink it. So strike a good balance,  get your greens and sprouts in a glass, and drink up!</p>

Of course the juice needs to taste good, or you just won&#8217;t drink it. And any freshly squeezed juice is way better than a candy bar or a soda any day. So strike your own balance. Some people need to start on the sweeter side, until the taste buds can adapt.</p>
<p>My taste buds are well adapted now to good amounts of kale, collards or other dark leafy greens in my juice or vegetable smoothies.</p>
<h2>Here are the ingredients for the juice recipe in this video</h2>

<li>papaya, great enzymes, seeds can be anti-parasitic</li>

<p>Tip: You can absorb more nutrition out of green leaves, if fat is present. A good reason to use a quality salad dressing, like something containing olive oil. Also nuts and seeds make a good addition to a salad.</p>
<p>The seed and the leaf represent alkaline balance in nature. Seeds are acidic, while the leafy greens are alkaline. Imagine foraging in nature, eating a few greens and a few seeds.</p>
<p>What do you do if you eat too many acid foods? Eat some leafy greens or better yet green juice or smoothie.<br />

<p>David also gets into which parts of the body are acid and which alkaline. The liver, gallbladder, blood, urine, saliva and other parts of the body have different ranges of pH. The body should balance to neutral.</p>
<p>Most people end up in the acid range. Burger, fries and soda. Fries =  root, Beef = muscle, Bun =  seeds. Total acidic combo.</p>
<h4>Conclusion &#8211; Get more greens! My favorite way is with the vegetable blender smoothie.</h4>
